Melanie Rock

Melanie Rock is a native New Yorker and avid traveler. After many years working in the music business, she chose Nyack as the ideal hub for family life, maintaining her continued immersion in the arts and her deep connection to the natural world. In 2001, she and her husband left their New York City condo for a crumbling 1930's stone house in Orangetown. They were bitten hard by the restoration bug, and have subsequently rehabbed five antique properties. While raising two fabulous daughters, Melanie's professional life shifted from tour managing rock bands to freelance writing. Her work appears in print and online journals such as Narratively, Bustle, Brain/Child, and Nyack News + Views, among others. Locally, she proudly serves as the vice president of Rockland County's non-profit arts presenting organization, ArtsRock, and is well versed in the complex primary and secondary school options in Rockland, Westchester, Bergen, and Ulster counties. Having lived in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Brooklyn, as well as Rockland, Orange, and Ulster, Melanie is a savvy relocation guide. She always brings her broad creative sensibilities to the art of house hunting, with special enthusiasm for unusual properties.
